Volunteer Locally

We wish everyone could make the journey to Uganda and have the opportunity to meet the wonderful children at St. Mary Kevin; we know this isn’t possible, however.

There are many other ways you can help make a difference as a volunteer. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

  • Attend and/or help at our annual fundraiser. It is held each June in Kansas City.
  • Shop at our annual event at Ten Thousand Villages in Overland Park, Kansas. This is held each December.
  • Collect or make items for team members to take to the orphanage.
  • Choose CTT as your Bar or Bat Mitzvah community service project.
  • Raise money by having bake sales, lemonade stands, etc.
  • Make and sell paper bead jewelry.
  • Sell African crafts, hats and tee shirts from the CTT store.
  • Become a pen pal to one of the children at the orphanage.

Middle school students at Pembroke Hill School learned how to make paper bead earrings and sold them to raise funds for CTT.

Gail Krigel and Vicki Reisler are just two of the many happy shoppers who attend the CTT Fundraising shopping event at Ten Thousand Villages each December.

Gently used soccer balls are always a big hit with the children at the orphanage. These were donated by Kansas City’s professional soccer team.

A great school project is to write letters to the children at the orphanage. They love hearing from their American friends.

Years ago, young Lee Heinemann decided to ask his family to put their spare change in a jar that he labeled and put on the TV. The money adds up and is still donated regularly to CTT.
